– Name of myth: The Alicanto.

– Description: the Alicanto is enormous. It’s got large, metal-colored wings, a delicate, swan-like head, a curved beak and feet with huge claws. Its wings shine at night and its eyes shoot out flashes of light. It casts no shadow on the ground.

– Diet: it eats gold and silver, and when its crop is full, it can’t fly due to the heavy weight of all the metal it just ate. 

– Region: the hills of the Atacama desert. It flies roughly between the Peruvian border to the Elqui river and from the foothills of the western slopes of the Andes mountains to the coast.

– Powers: it can lead a man to the exact spot of rich mineral deposits or to buried treasure.

– Moral or lesson: being greedy is not good because you can loose a lot of things to greed, even your own life.
