Greece takes up the southernmost part of the Balkan Peninsula encompassing many islands. It is bounded on the continent by Albania to the northeast; to the north by Macedonia and Bulgaria; to the northeast by Turkey; to the east by the Aegean Sea; to the south by the Mediterranean Sea and, to the west by the Ionic Sea.
Its climate combines continental and Mediterranean features.
The majority of its population is Greek, but it also receives a significant number of Albanian immigrants. Tourism and agriculture (tobacco and vineyards) are its main income earners.
